    Multiple school districts switch to eLearning Friday

    MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Several school districts across the Lowcountry will have eLearning on Friday due to expected impacts from Hurricane Helene this week.

    CHARLESTON COUNTY

    The Charleston County School District made the switch to eLearning for Friday. All school and district buildings will be closed. Employees will work remotely.

    Kaleidoscope and all other extracurricular activities and afterschool programs scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2024, are canceled; however, Friday football games will continue.

    BERKELEY COUNTY

    Berkeley County schools will learn from home and complete eLearning assignments on Friday as well. After-school activities and after-school care programs close at 6 p.m. Thursday. All school offices will be closed on Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled.

    COLLETON COUNTY

    School district leaders in Colleton County enacted an early dismissal for Thursday and will delay the start of school on Friday.

    “As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after-school activities may resume after 4 p.m. on Friday,” the district said.

    DORCHESTER COUNTY

    Dorchester District 4 canceled all after-school activities on Thursday and will have eLearning on Friday, and Dorchester District 2 will move to eLearning on Friday.

    Dorchester District 2 asked that LEAP Afterschool Program students be picked up as soon as possible on Thursday, and all extracurricular activities for the day are canceled.

    Students will receive information from their school and teachers for eLearning assignments on Friday and due dates. Assignments will be posted no later than 9 a.m. Friday. There will be virtual office hours with their teacher from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. through 3 p.m.

    All extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday evening are still on as scheduled; however, LEAP Afterschool Program will be closed.

    GEORGETOWN COUNTY

    Georgetown County School District will also have an eLearning day on Friday.

    WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY

    Williamsburg County schools will operate on a regular schedule on Thursday; however, there will be no after-school or extracurricular activities.

    Schools will open on a two-hour delay Friday.

    OTHER SCHOOLS

    Dorchester County Career & Technology Center will be closed on Friday and students will have an eLearning day.

    Palmetto Christian Academy will have an at-home learning day on Friday.

    why? the hurricane is not even going be near us. they gonna close stuff down evertime something happens in other states?
