CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – An unrestrained infant was found in the front seat of a vehicle suspected in an earlier shooting in the Lincolnville community.

Charleston County deputies were called to the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and West Broad Street just before 5 p.m. Thursday after getting reports of a person shooting at a vehicle.

The suspected vehicle was seen on Ladson Road and deputies initiated a traffic stop. Sencere Vonteay Lee Gilliard, 18, of Summerville, was taken into custody.

Deputies say an unrestrained infant was in the front passenger seat, and a weapon with ammunition and other items of interest were found during a vehicle search.

Gilliard was arrested on a slew of charges that included attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, child endangerment of a minor in a vehicle, pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, discharging a firearm into a vehicle while occupied, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Gilliard was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
