    Support Hurricane Helene victims: drop off essential items at Isle of Palms Police Station

    ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) – The Isle of Palms Police Department is now accepting donations to support Hurricane Helene victims.

    Donations will be transported to the designated relief location, with collection running until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2.

    Urgently needed items can be dropped off at the first floor of the Public Safety Building, located at 30 JC Long Blvd, anytime between now and Wednesday.

    Accepted items:

    • Sports drinks (powdered packets)
    • Hydration packets (powder form)
    • Baby wipes
    • Diapers (children & adults)
    • Baby formula
    • Bug spray
    • Sunscreen
    • Plastic utensils
    • Manual can openers
    • Trash bags (13 gal or contractor bags)
    • Non-perishable food
    • Cleaning supplies
    • Plastic sheeting/tarps
    • Toothbrushes
    • Toothpaste
    • toiletries/sanitation items
    • Pet food (dog/cat)
    • Hand sanitizer
    • Sanitizer wipes
    • Feminine hygiene products
    • Heavy-duty work gloves
    • Socks – all sizes (unopened)

    Items not accepted:

    Please be aware that water and liquids cannot be accepted due to helicopter weight limits, and used clothing is also not accepted.

    • Used clothing
    • Water (due to weight)
    • HAZMAT
    • Most chemicals (including bleach)
    • Fuel
    • Flammable items
