    South Carolina’s storm-related deaths rises to 36

    UPDATE: SCDPS revised the state’s storm-related death toll to 36 on Tuesday afternoon. The new numbers show three deaths occurred in Laurens County.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The number of storm-related deaths in South Carolina continues to rise.

    The South Carolina Department of Public Safety reported Tuesday morning that 33 people have died across 11 counties as a result of the recent hurricane.

    The highest number of deaths have occurred in Aiken, Greenville, and Spartanburg counties.

    • Aiken – 6
    • Anderson – 4
    • Chester – 2
    • Chesterfield – 1
    • Greenville – 6
    • Greenwood – 1
    • Newberry – 2
    • Richland – 1
    • Saluda – 3
    • Spartanburg – 6
    • York – 1
    • Laurens – 3

    Heather Biance with the SC Dept. of Public Safety said the deaths were confirmed through coroners in each county.
