COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Army National Guard said Friday its engineers have cleared over 900 miles of debris after Hurricane Helene brought strong winds, tornadoes, and flooding to the state last week.

Among those efforts, the SC National Guard said they removed 1,746 trees and dedicated 2,554 chainsaw hours to post-Helene recovery efforts.

As relief efforts continue, the guard is using 15 chainsaw teams, 12 debris-clearing teams, and general-purpose troops manning 15 points of distribution in the state.
