COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina High School League passed votes on Tuesday that will change the remainder of the fall sports season.

The matter was brought up from upstate schools, many who have missed school and athletic competitions due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

    The following votes were passed:

Football: extend regular season by one week, keep playoffs intact; state championships to still be played in Orangeburg, now on December 14th and 15th.

Volleyball: extend regular season by one week, keep playoffs intact; five rounds for girls, four rounds for boys.

Girl’s tennis: extend regular season by one week; keep playoffs intact.

Cross Country: state championship will stay the same date, a runner will only have to race in one race before state qualifying meets.

*no changes to championship dates for swimming or girl’s golf.
