CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Hurricane Milton, now deemed a post-tropical cyclone in the Atlantic, has had an impact on the cruise industry.

Charleston-based passengers awaiting a voyage on the Carnival Sunshine this weekend may see some delays.

Carnival Sunshine left the Port of Charleston on Monday and is currently on a five-day cruise. A visit to Princess Cays was canceled for Thursday.

The ship is expected to return to Charleston on Saturday before leaving again for its next trip; however, the cruise line shared a message to passengers saying they should not proceed to the cruise terminal until they have received confirmation on operations plans.

Passengers can sign up for text alerts from Carnival by texting CCL6 to CRUISE (278473). Carnival said it expected to provide an update by 3 p.m. Thursday.

At last check, Milton was located 320 miles east northeast of Cap Canaveral, Florida with 75 mph winds around 2 p.m. Thursday. As the system pulls away from Florida, it will pass north of the northwestern Bahamas during the afternoon hours and remain out to sea.
