CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Police have extradited a man on murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing a man on Savannah Highway last week.

26-year-old Samuel Antonio Cooper was extradited from Savannah, Georgia, Thursday.

Cooper is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and two counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, according to Charleston Police. His bond hearing is 10 a.m. Friday.

Officers responded to Savannah Hwy near Bees Ferry Road just after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, where they found a work van near the side of the roadway.

Sgt. Chris Stinson said Cooper fired into the van, hitting the driver several times. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Robert Campbell.

Cooper had two children in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, investigators believe. He then fled the scene after the shooting before police arrived.

An investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing.
