    Pedestrian dies after crash on Ocean Highway in Georgetown County, troopers say

    GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A pedestrian has died following a Thursday crash in Georgetown County.

    Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened on Ocean Highway near Professional Lane.

    A 2004 Ford SUV was traveling south on Ocean Highway when a pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross the roadway.

    The pedestrian was taken to Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital where they later died. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

    Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway identified the pedestrian as 46-year-old Kevin Harrell of Pawleys Island.

    The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
