    Coroner ID’s bicyclist killed in hit-and-run

    CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the bicyclist who was killed in a Wednesday early morning hit-and-run on Ladson Rd .

    Robert W. Barrs, 35, of North Charleston died on the scene from injuries sustained in the collision, according to Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal.

    Barrs was operating a bicycle near the Sphinx on Ladson Rd when the collision occurred. He was found dead in the roadway and the vehicle fled the scene.

    According to Harve Jacobs, North Charleston PD’s spokesperson, a person was detained for questioning.

    The North Charleston Police Department is investigating.
