    Fatal early morning collision in Georgetown County claims one life

    GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A fatal collision in Georgetown County early Saturday morning left one person dead and another injured.

    The crash occurred around 12:04 a.m. on Dunn Bar Road (Secondary 179), approximately 12 miles north of Georgetown, near Rose Hill Road.

    According to Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Dunn Bar Road when it collided with a 2000 Nissan Maxima traveling northbound.

    The driver of the Honda Civic was transported by EMS to Tideland Memorial Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim.

    The driver of the Nissan Maxima sustained injuries and was taken by EMS to Grand Strand Regional Hospital for treatment.

    The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
