    Detectives investigating fatal shooting on Wadmalaw Island Saturday morning

    CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 19, on Wadmalaw Island.

    Deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 2 a.m. in the 5300 block of Maybank Highway.

    Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

    The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

    No arrests have been made, and the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Services Unit are actively investigating the incident. Authorities have stated that there is no known threat to the community at this time.
