Two main storm systems tracked across southern and central Minnesota on Monday, spawning a number of tornadoes and dumping more than an inch of rain.

National Weather Service forecaster Jacob Beitlich said crews will be finding out how many twisters touched down in the state.

"These tornadoes are generally near St. James, east of Mankato, and then moving to the southeast and ending up south of Albert Lea," he told WCCO radio early Tuesday.

As for the rain, more than an inch fell at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and Chanhassen, with nearly three inches of rain in Saint Cloud.

That breaks the record set in 1900.
