Hot Item? Firefighters selling some "scantily-clad" calendars to raise money at State Fair

No doubt there's plenty to eat, drink, ride, hear, and see at the State Fair. But who would have expected half-naked firefighters? Good looking women and shirtless men with amazing physiques, who are firefighters to boot?

    Yeah, it's a hot item.

"There's actually truly nothing like it, I agree," said Claire.

The purpose is to sell calendars and raise money for Safe Hands Rescue, a pet adoption agency and Operation Warm.

"Raises money for underprivileged youth," says fireman Tim Hemquist. "We buy winter coats and distribute them around the fall to local schools around the area."

And Claire was pretty stoked to have them sign hers.

"Yeah, yeah. Here we go. They all wrote me a little nice note and that's something I'll have forever," she says.

Plus, she's helping out two great causes.

Of course raising money is important, but one of the more amusing aspects of this gig for Hemquist are all the looks he gets.

"One of my favorite parts," he told WCCO. "I was just telling these folks, when they're over off there in the distance and they have their phone out and you call them out and make them feel a little awkward, and then they come over and we chat with them. Hopefully get them to buy a calendar and donate towards a good cause."

There's a men's and women's calendar, each selling for $25. You can find the calendars near the AFL-CIO booth at the corner of Dan Patch and Cooper.
