If you think you're hot, imagine working the deep fryer at the State Fair!

Monday’s Excessive Heat warning hasn’t seemed to stop fairgoers or workers at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

The sound of flapping fans are everywhere at the fair as the dew point nears 80 making it feel like over 100-plus. Yet lines are still long and streets are still packed.

When you ask workers how they've been feeling on a day like today, there's been one resounding answer.

"You just accepting the fact that you'll be hot, and moving on," one worker told WCCO.

And for those selling cold drinks, they might even tell you it's been a great day.

"If anything, all the corn dogs that we haven't been selling, it's been coming back in lemonade sales and everyone's trying to cool off with that," a worker explained. "But it's been pretty steady and going well."

Although Minnesotans continue to remain tough under current conditions, State Fair officials are advising that people bring things like sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a refillable water bottle to the Fair.

As a reminder, you can get free water courtesy of Livea at the WCCO Radio booth near Carnes and Underwood.

Temps crept up over 90 on Monday but an extremely high dew point made it feel thick, hot and sticky with a "feels like" over 100 for the bulk of the day. Rain should hit the metro Monday night and early Tuesday before some more seasonable fair weather.

It was far from the hottest temperature recorded during the Fair. By far the highest temperature in the Fair's history was 104 degrees F, on September 10, 1931. The same year saw the second highest at 99.1. We don't have dew point measurements from those years, but it's hard to imagine anything close to the upper 70s fairgoers experienced this Monday.
