PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA) — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School has reported they have received a “vague” threat from an anonymous individual Friday morning — the third threat the school has received within a week.

After consulting with law enforcement, the school is remaining open Friday, though there will be “increased security measures” at the school.

“We take all threats seriously as the safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” Paxton-Buckely-Loda Superintendent Travis Duley said.

The high school previously posted they received threats last Friday morning as well as Wednesday evening.

In an emailed answer to WCIA, Duley said the school uses a behavioral threat assessment process to determine the validity of threats.

“This is a process that our district has used for several years and involves specific questions being asked to any students with knowledge of the situation, parents/guardians of any student accused of concerning behavior, and staff who work with the student on a regular basis,” Duley said. “All of this information is then reviewed by a team of indviduals (sic) who determine whether a credible threat exists or not, and then determine appropriate actions as we move forward.”

Duley also said he will continue to be transparent with parents going forward to reassure them, while also following laws related to student confidentiality.
