DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A quarter-million dollars is coming to Danville. The money will help entrepreneurs become better and smarter with how they run their businesses.

It’s from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The project is called Small Business Advantage. It’s a partnership between the City and the Trep School.

It will provide low-cost educational programming to disadvantaged small business owners. Classes will have things like workshops and legal resources to help owners address business concerns.

Trep’s CEO Tricia Teague said they want to see businesses have long-term success in town.

“The truth of the matter is that entrepreneurship is the backbone of the economy,” she said. “And if we want to build Danville and we want to build a better community, then it behooves us to invest in our small businesses and grow our own.”

Classes will be held at the Soar Space Business Center right in Danville. A start date for classes hasn’t been set, but officials hope to begin soon.

Teague said they will be looking for as many Danville-based entrepreneurs as they can. If you’d like more information, contact Vermilion County Advantage .
