    Network interruption affects University of Illinois campus

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — University of Illinois campus is experiencing a significant network service interruption Friday morning, according to university police.

    Around 7:54 a.m., an Illini-Alert was sent out to students and faculty alerting them of the disruption. There was no estimate provided for when the network service issue will be resolved.

    Officials with the University of Illinois told WCIA the interruption is not a cybersecurity incident, but rather a vendor software issue.

    A worldwide internet outage is disrupting some 911 centers, business operations, flights, banks, media outlets and more Friday morning.
