Urbana man arrested on gun charges after domestic violence call

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — An Urbana man is under arrest after police said they caught him armed with a gun he wasn’t supposed to have during an instance of domestic violence.

Officials with the Urbana Police Department posted about the incident on the department Facebook page , saying it happened Monday in the area of Harding Drive and Vawter Street. When officers arrived at the reported address, officials said, they encountered a 25-year-old man who fled from them.

Officers caught up to the man and arrested him, finding he was in possession of a stolen gun. He’s been arrested on several charges that include domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, endangering the life and health of a child, aggravated assault, resisting a police officer and possessing a stolen gun.

Urbana Police reminded that the man is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
