    Central Illinois dispensaries get $240,000 grants

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Several Central Illinois marijuana dispensaries are getting a piece of a $5.5 million state grant.

    The state of Illinois has awarded 23 social equity marijuana dispensaries $240,000 in forgivable loans. Those social equity dispensaries mean half of all ownership is a minority or has their home address in areas declared as a “disadvantaged areas.”

    “The Cannabis Social Equity Loan Program is actively reshaping the cannabis industry by strengthening businesses, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth,” Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton said in a statement. “However, the impact of these investments goes beyond business development. We are demonstrating a tangible commitment to equity, removing barriers and promoting inclusivity in the cannabis sector.”

    One dispensary awarded was Danville’s Seven Point. The general manager of Seven Point said it will be used on construction and improvements for the building.

    Other dispensaries getting money from the state includes Mystic Green in Decatur and InLabs in Springfield.
