DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Decatur and Illinois state fire investigators are looking into a fire that burned a home over the weekend.

The fire happened in the area of West Sunset Avenue and South Sycamore Street early Saturday morning. Decatur fire officials said firefighters were dispatched at 3:40 a.m. and they arrived to find most of the house on fire.

A primary search of the home found no one inside while firefighting efforts brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. Looking into the fire, Decatur fire investigators deemed it suspicious and contacted the Decatur Police Department and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

No one was hurt and no one was reported to be relocated as a result of the fire. Officials added that two dogs were at the scene of the fire outside the home when firefighters arrived; they were not hurt and were collected by the Macon County Animal Control.
