DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur City Council approved several agenda items at Monday’s meeting including improvements to Staley Basin of Lake Decatur.

The project includes increasing the parking area and significant upgrades to the shoreline. The City will remove the existing rocky shoreline to replace it with a block mat and a ledge stone retaining wall.

Also passed in the meeting were rehabilitating 9.4 lane miles of roads in the city and the purchase of two pit sites to improve water quality.

The council also talked about the regulation of video gaming and suggested steps to amend the liquor license ordinance. No action was taken during the meeting. Several changes were made to the ordinance back in November of 2023.
