    Champaign Co. Sheriff responds to crash after car drives through cornfield

    CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash after it left the roadway and traveled 2/3 of a mile through a cornfield overnight.

    Around 2:17 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of 1200 E and 2100 N in Hensley Township. According to a release from Sheriff Dustin Heuerman, the only vehicle involved, a 2018 Audi, eventually came to a stop after traveling more than half a mile through a cornfield, ending up on a fence row near I-57. Illinois State Police assisted in responding to the accident.

    The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Xinyu Han, 23 of Champaign. Han was taken to a local hospital where was treated for her injuries. She was issued citations for driving under the influence and improper lane usage.
