DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Macon County Animal Control is offering a special deal in hopes to increase the number of dogs adopted this week.

Sergeant Ron Atkins of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, who also works as the administrator for Macon County Animal Control, is personally paying for the adoption fees for all dogs adopted this week. Officials on Facebook said the animal shelter has 35 dogs available as of midday Thursday, and a wait list of more than 30 dogs.

“Get your adoption application approved, come in and visit, take home a precious new companion and watch this guy’s paycheck dwindle!” officials wrote on Facebook.

The shelter is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. All dogs qualify for the special.

Officials said the application process is unchanged despite the special.
