DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Decatur is issuing a reminder to residents that they do not allow signs on the public right of way.

City officials said in a Facebook post Thursday that the ordinance banning on signs and decorations is to help keep pedestrians and drivers safe by helping visibility. This includes banners and flags as well as signs, including ones of promotional and political nature.

City crews will remove any signs placed in the ROW if they see them.

If a sign is taken, the City attempts to keep all signs for 30 days. Residents can pick up their signs by calling the city’s Municipal Services Center at 217-875-4820. The Municipal Services Center is located at 2600 North Jasper Street.
