DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur woman is facing charges after police said she was responsible for a domestic violence incident that involved threats to “shoot everyone in the house,” including two children under one year old.

Court records obtained by WCIA show that Precious M. Jackson, age 20, is charged with home invasion with a dangerous weapon, residential burglary, possession of a firearm without a FOID card and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The charges stem from an Aug. 16 incident where police said Jackson threatened her sisters, her niece and nephew and the father of one of the children.

A sworn affidavit from the Decatur Police Department, signed by Officer Ashlyn Bennett, said the home where the incident happened belongs to Jackson’s older sister, age 22. She was there with her two-month-old son, his 17-year-old father, her 16-year-old sister and that sister’s 10-month-old daughter.

The sisters told officers that just before 1:20 a.m., they heard knocking on the door, but no one would announce themselves. When the elder sister opened the door, Bennett said Jackson, wearing all black clothing, forced her way inside and pulled a gun out of her waistband.

Bennett said Jackson made comments similar to “you can die,” that she would shoot everyone, and “I don’t care.” Jackson is accused of pointing the gun at both her sister and her nephew’s father, prompting the sister to run at her and try to seize the gun.

While this was happening, the younger sister told police that she feared for her life, grabbed the children and ran out of the house.

Bennett said Jackson, after separating from her sister, then grabbed some of the sister’s belongings that were on a table and left the house. She went across the street to their aunt’s home, who let Jackson inside.

Bennett added that the elder sister told them the reason for the whole incident was because of a month-long dispute between Jackson and the father of her nephew. Two months earlier, on the Fourth of July, Jackson is said to have arrived at the same house, armed with a gun similar to the one she had on Aug. 16, and made threats to “kill people.” Two weeks before Aug. 16, the sister said Jackson threatened to shoot her son’s father during an argument in the driveway.

Benett noted that during the police response, “multiple subjects were yelling and telling officers that we were only receiving one side of the story and not both sides.” When they were asked if they were willing to make a statement, Bennett said they refused and did not want to be cooperative.

Jackson was not located the morning of the incident, but she was arrested three days later. That day, she made her first court appearance and was denied pretrial release. She remains in the Macon County Jail awaiting her next court appearance on Aug. 28.
