EIU opens Family Hub space for student caregivers

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — The Booth Library on EIU’s campus has become more friendly for families with small children.

In the library, the newest space is the Family Hub. The hub includes two lactation and infant feeding rooms, family-friendly study spaces, and changing stations.

The university held a ribbon cutting for the space Wednesday afternoon.

University officials said the reason for the space is to provide students with children a space to study.

“EIU leaders understand the challenges of balancing academics and family life, and the University is committed to providing resources and support to help its students succeed,” officials said in the invitation to the media.
