Springfield to host U.S. National Boomerang Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The 2024 U.S. National Boomerang Championship and Expo is coming to Central Illinois next month.

The United States Boomerang Association is throwing its three-day competition Sept. 6, 7 and 8 in Springfield. Officials said the weekend will include the annual national championship and aesthetics competitions, as well as a good time for enthusiasts to learn about boomerangs.

The competition will be held at University of Illinois Springfield’s East Soccer Complex.

According to its website, the USBA was formed in 1982, but throwing boomerangs as an organized sport began in the 1960s.
