    Coroner ID’s 57-year-old driver dead from Springfield crash

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the man who died in a car crash Wednesday night on MacArthur Boulevard.

    Investigation underway after former Springfield police officer crashes, severely injures two on motorcycle

    Coroner Jim Allmon said 57-year-old Jake Woods of Springfield was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy’s preliminary autopsy findings show Woods died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.


    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Springfield is dead following a car crash Wednesday night on MacArthur Boulevard.

    The crash happened near the intersection with Outer Park Drive. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the victim is 57 years old and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

    UPDATE: Springfield mayor issues statement after officer-involved shooting

    Allmon is waiting to notify the victim’s family before releasing his name. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

    The death is under investigation by Allmon’s office and the Springfield Police Department.
