    Watseka, Iroquois Co. collecting unwanted electronics for recycling

    WATSEKA, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Watseka and the Iroquois County Board are giving people a chance to get rid of their electronics if they are unwanted or don’t work anymore.

    Eastern Illinois Foodbank asks for community participation during Hunger Action Month

    City and county staff will be hosting a collection event on Saturday at the Riverside parking lot in Watseka. Items they can accept are:

    • Answering machines
    • Battery backups and Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS)
    • Camcorders
    • Cameras
    • Cellular/mobile phones, pagers, and tablets
    • Christmas tree lights
    • Computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, etc.)
    • Desktop/laptop computers
    • DVD/CD players, VCRs
    • Fax machines, printers, scanners, copiers
    • Ink cartridges and toner
    • Mail-room equipment
    • Monitore
    • Networking equipment and cables
    • Point of sale equipment
    • Power and accessory cables
    • Power tools (including batteries)
    • Projectors
    • Radios, receivers, satellite and cable equipment
    • Shredders
    • Speakers
    • Surge suppressors and power strips
    • Telephones (including PBX equipment)
    • Televisions
    • Video games and consoles
    • Walkie-talkies

    The collection event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.
