Vandalia man dead in weekend Coles County crash

COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Vandalia died in Coles County over the weekend following a crash on U.S. Route 45.

Officials from the Illinois State Police said the crash happened at the intersection with County Road 250N just before 5 a.m. on Sunday. Only one vehicle was involved, and the sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that a 2000 Chevrolet S10 was driving north on Route 45 when, for unknown reasons, it went off the road to the right. The truck drove through the roadside ditch before striking an embankment and overturning.

The driver of the truck was identified as 31-year-old Joshua E. Lawhorn. No further information is available at this time.
