CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The country is gearing up to watch Tuesday night’s debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“It’s been such an interesting election thus far with the changes in the candidates, just how polarized everything is,” voter Becca Obuchowski said.

This is the first, and possibly only time that the candidates will debate ahead of November. They’ll square off in Philadelphia — the largest city in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Community members spoke to us about what they want to see ahead of tonight’s debate. Topics including inflation, healthcare and the border crisis are all at the forefront of their minds.

“The inflation, gas price, everything… Everybody feels it at the dinner table, every time they go to the gas pump, so relief for that,” voter Ron Siemion said.

Both Trump and Harris have something to prove as they try to collect more support before people head to the polls.
