    Crime Stoppers seeking information on damage to over 50 trees in Sangamon Co.

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Springfield Police are asking for the public’s help after more than 50 trees were cut down or damaged around the 1700 block of East Lake Shore Drive.

    Crime Stoppers joins effort in Urbana attempted luring case

    Sometime between Aug. 30-31, Springfield Police said an unknown person cut down the trees, creating over $10,000 worth of damage. There were several different types of trees, all of which were around six years old.

    Crime Stoppers is assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on their website or use the P3 mobile
    app. Any tips that lead to an arrest could result in a cash reward up to $2,500. Crime Stoppers will not ask for a tipster’s name.
