    Two arrested after shots fired, police chase on I-57 in Champaign Co.

    PESOTUM, Ill. (WCIA) — Part of Interstate 57 is closed after a vehicle fired shots at a second vehicle Thursday afternoon.

    According to State Police, people in one car shot at another car in Pesotum at milepost 223 in Champaign County around 1 p.m. Police tried to stop the car that fired the shots, but the vehicle evaded the officers, causing them to engage in a chase.

    State Police Troopers eventually were able to bring the vehicle to a stop after they deployed stop sticks near milepost 285 near Gilman.

    A man and a woman were taken into custody in relation to the incident. No one was injured from the shots fired.

    State Police closed the right lane of Interstate 57 northbound, but the left lane is open.
