DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A car crash in Indiana earlier this week resulted in the death of a teacher who worked for the Danville School District.

The crash happened Monday evening in Tippecanoe County, Ind. WCIA sister station Fox 59 in Indianapolis reported that a Chevrolet Blazer was driving westbound on a county road when it crossed the center line and hit a Toyota Prius head-on. The drivers of both vehicles died.

The driver of the Blazer was identified as Nathaniel Phipps, 28 of Covington, Ind. The driver of the Prius was Mihai Murineanu, 46 of Crawfordsville, Ind.

Murineanu was employed as a physical education teacher at Mark Denman Elementary School in Danville at the time of his passing.

An obituary for Murineanu said he was born in Romania and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2010. It also said he was a husband and a father who adored his children and who was involved in religious services.
