    Shannon Jr. and legal team to sue Lawrence PD, county’s DA for millions

    LAWRENCE, KAN. (WCIA) — Former Illini Basketball player Terrence Shannon Jr. and his mother have filed a claim to sue multiple official agencies in Kansas after the athlete was found not guilty of rape and aggravated sexual battery in June.

    Mark Sutter, one of Shannon’s attorneys, confirmed they are seeking millions of dollars in damages from the Douglas County, Kan., District Attorney, as well as the Lawrence Police Department and a detective for malicious prosecution and other claims.

    The star athlete was charged in late December , as a then 18-year-old accused him of digitally penetrating her at a bar called the Jayhawk Café in September. He was suspended from the team before he sued the University to be reinstated .

    WCIA has reached out to both the Douglas County District Attorney’s office and the Lawrence Police Department for comment on the lawsuit, but both offices were not immediately available.

    Lawrence is good at ruining young men over drunk sorority whores accusations, but he won't get any compensation for his loss. He should sue the trick that accused him.
