PrideFest returns to Decatur this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — An annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ art, history and advocacy takes place tomorrow in Decatur.

Decatur PrideFest will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Fairview Park Pavilion. During the all-day celebration, attendees can expect food, music and live entertainment.

Joe Chianakas, Peoria-based author of the Rabbit in Red horror trilogy, will be one of several vendors at PrideFest. Other vendors have not yet been announced on the festival’s Facebook page .

Registration for Pet Pride begins at 11:45 a.m. and the contest begins at noon. Pets will be judged on best pride gear, pet and owner outfits and best trick.

Later on in the day, PrideFest attendees can also watch the finals for the Annual Voice of Decatur Singing Contest. After two days of qualifiers earlier in the month, the final contest will take place at 5 p.m.

And to finish up the evening, Mystique Summers from season two of RuPaul’s Drag Race, will be performing at the closing drag show.
