Welcoming Week 2024 starts in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Welcoming Week for 2024 in Champaign kicks off Friday, and more than 30 events are planned for the community to celebrate its diversity in residents from all sorts of backgrounds.

The week recognizes more than the 25,000 foreign-born individuals across Champaign County. Officials said the events are designed for neighbors to connect with each other and learn something new.

The theme for this year’ Welcoming Week is “We’re All In!”

A full list of events can be found on University YMCA’s website. Some events include the Human Library in Urbana, a cake walk and a community job fair.
