(WCIA) — Off to a 3-0 start to the season, the Illini have entered the AP Top 25 at No. 24 after receiving the 26th-most votes in the previous poll.

Illinois is ranked for the first time since 2022 when it spent four weeks in the poll. This sets the stage for a Top 25 matchup when Illinois heads to No. 22 Nebraska on Friday night.

Texas has overtaken the Georgia Bulldogs in the top spot. Ohio State leads Big Ten teams in the rankings at No. 3, followed by No. 9 Oregon. Penn State, USC and Michigan are ranked in addition to the Illini and Cornhuskers.

Illinois holds an 81-50-2 record when ranked in the AP Top 25.
