DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Police Department is investigating two shooting incidents that left a total of three people hurt early Saturday morning. One of the victims is a child and their mother was arrested following an investigation.

Department officials said they were made aware of the shooting involving the child around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center for a report of a gunshot victim; the victim was brought to the hospital by their mother, 34-year-old Morgan Nelson.

Officials said that after an investigation, Nelson was arrested on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the life and health of a child. Her child was released from the hospital the same day.

DCFS assisted the Danville Police Department in ensuring that the child was safe following this incident.

Three hours later, Danville Police found two other gunshot victims in a yard at Moore Street and Deerwood Drive. Officials said a shooting at around midnight left a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman hurt.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The man has since been released while the woman is still hospitalized in stable condition.

Officials said detectives know very little about the shooting on Moore Street and they are asking for help from the public.
