    Update on 9/18

The Illinois State Police has clarified that the “pedestrian” they reported as being hit by a car on Tuesday was actually a construction worker.

State Police did not provide a medical update on the worker, repeating that they were flown from the scene of the accident to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

DEWITT COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A pedestrian is fighting for their life after they were hit by a car in DeWitt County Tuesday morning.

The car vs. pedestrian crash happened on Illinois Route 54 just east of Wren Road. Officials with the Illinois State Police said the pedestrian who was hit was flown from the scene of the crash to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger in the car were also hurt and were taken from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital.

It’s officially harvest season and day two of farm safety week

The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office said Route 54 is shut down between Power and Wren Roads for “an extended period of time.” People are advised to avoid the area if possible.
