    Georgetown man gets seven years for dealing crack cocaine

    DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Georgetown has been sentenced to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a drug felony.

    Prosecutors from the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office said Terrence Potts, 49, pleaded guilty last week to a Class 1 felony of delivery of a controlled substance. At the same hearing, Judge Mark Goodwin sentenced him to prison.

    Evidence presented in court showed that Potts was arrested on Nov. 22, 2022, when the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group executed a search warrant at Georgetown’s Budget Motel. Inside a motel room, agents found Potts and 15 grams of a substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine.

    Prosecutors said that when he was interviewed, Potts admitted be had been living at the Budget Model for two years, that he sold crack cocaine during that time and that the substance found with him was cocaine.

    Probably speaking on the ways down closer to Westville then g town ! I’m from here and I agree , anyways I guess cleaning the streets up either way , just hope things get better over time for our children and our children’s children!

    There are no motels in Georgetown, don't know where he's from but not here.
