LONG CREEK, Ill. (WCIA) — One person was sent to the hospital on Tuesday after a fire destroyed a home in Long Creek.

The fire happened on Jeanette Drive around 11:13 a.m. Long Creek Fire Chief Stephen Webb said over 30 firefighters responded to the home, including those from his department, Mt. Zion, Argenta-Oreana, Bethany, Cerro Gordo and South Lealand.

The fire was largely knocked out in 30 minutes, Webb said, but the home was a total loss. One civilian was hurt and they were taken to the hospital; Webb could not provide an update on their condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
