CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A new quarter-million dollar grant is headed to the Champaign Parks District.

The grant is through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
It will fund continued child programming at the Martens Center and the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club.

Champaign Park District’s Director of Marketing and Development Chelsea Norton said the grant benefits parents as much as their children.

“It really helps to keep the cost of programming lower,” Norton said. “It helps to cover our costs on our end so we can keep offering this program or even potentially expand on it. So by having a grant like this, it continues to serve the community in that way.”

Funds will also support after-school programming and summer camp programs.
