CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Being able to maintain a healthy diet improves a lot of health issues.

The CDC has new data showing the obesity rate has gone down. That’s the first time that’s happened in more than a decade.

According to one Christie Clinic Weight Loss Coordinator, professionals are noticing that people are willing and wanting to take care of themselves more.

Larry Williams said he has patients who are on the weight loss journey. He challenges them to eat healthy by mixtures of different fruits, vegetables and protein. He also said he works with people who take Ozempic to lose weight but is hoping they’re going about it the right way.

“Just because it’s curbing your appetite doesn’t mean that, ‘Oh, well, I can just go ahead and eat Haagen-Dazs ice cream all day.’ You need to eat the healthier foods because the problem is, when you stop taking those GLP-1’s, the weight will come back with a vengeance. And even worse, if you aren’t making that concerted effort to change your lifestyle,” Williams said.

Williams says it can be useful, but it is a quick fix. If you choose to take the product, check with your doctor beforehand.
