    Central Illinois Bat Festival coming to Urbana

    URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Urbana Park District is getting ready to hold a bat festival.

    The festival starts at Anita Purves Nature Center. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., bat enthusiasts of all ages will hear from guest scientists, kids can participate in themed activities and people can watch mist net demonstrations. Food trucks and exhibitors will also be present.

    Champaign hosting annual NAACP convention, town hall this weekend

    Then the party moves to Crystal Lake Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., attendees will hopefully find and hear bats while on a walk in the park.

    The event is free and no registration is required. More information can be found by calling the Nature Center at (217) 384-4062.
