WHITE HEATH, Ill. (WCIA) — Schools across the world are jamming out to an initiative to help make learning fun.

It’s called Rock Your School and White Heath Elementary is ready to roll with it. The movement is all about creating a new experience for students and teachers.

White Heath staff dressed up Thursday with rock and roll wigs and covered themselves in fake tattoos. One teacher said it’s a way to build engagement with students and have some fun while learning.

18 Illinois schools named National Blue Ribbon School

“We’ve done some musical math, we’ve done some reading about different musicians and just made today a very hands on, engaging, learning experience,” fourth grade teacher Kristen Kirk said. “One that the kids will certainly remember.”

Last year more than 100,000 educators participated in the event. More information on the program can be found on Rock Your School’s website .
