DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Officials in Danville are reminding early voters that construction won’t stop them from going to the ballot box.

Construction began this weekn on the northbound road of Vermilion Street up to Harrison, temporarily closing the intersection. This closure is just outside the early voting location at Joseph G. Cannon Building.

Early voting is open in Illinois. Here’s where you can cast your ballot:

Officials with the City of Danville said not to worry about the construction, as it won’t impede anybody from casting their vote at the Election Commission.

“Access is available to the county building through Madison Street. There is parking across the street, which is at the War Museum. So there’s a parking lot near the War Museum and the Danville Public Library,” said Justin Houston, Danville Community Development Engineer.

Houston also said parking is available at the county lot across Harrison Street, but people would need to walk around the construction to get into the building. The sidewalks on Harrison are expected to be completed by next week, with roads being paved soon after in early October.
