Urbana, Ill. (WCIA) — Another candidate is vying for the top spot in the city of Urbana.

Annie Feldmeier Adams announced that she is running for the mayor of Urbana as a Democrat in a news release Thursday.

On her campaign website, she lists her priorities as sustainable growth, expanded housing opportunities, safe and connected transportation, community safety, racial equity and social justice, social health and well-being, and environmental resilience.

Early voting is open in Illinois. Here’s where you can cast your ballot:

“I am running for mayor to build a resilient, thriving, and welcoming city for all,” Adams said. “I will advocate for the people of Urbana’s right to safety, dignity, and prosperity and the fair and respectful treatment of our city employees. We all belong here and deserve a voice in our government.”

Adams said she and her husband Bruce moved to Urbana in 2015. Since then, she’s served on the Urbana Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission and helped found Imbibe Urbana and Urbana First Fridays.

Also on Adams’ campaign website is an endorsement from outgoing mayor Diane Marlin, who calls her “practical, accessible, and straight-talking”.

Deshawn Williams also is running as a Democratic candidate for Urbana mayor . Adams and Williams will face off on the Feb. 25 primary in 2025.
