MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — Enrollment at Lake Land College has reached its highest level in five years, according to the college’s official 10th-day Enrollment report.

The number of students attending Lake Land College during the Fall 2024 semester is up to about 4,000, up 7% from last year’s enrollment. The report also showed a 20% increase in new students and growth in the Dual Credit and Certificate programs. Full-time equivalency, of FTE, is the total number of credit hours divided by 15, and that is also up by half a percent.

“We’re excited to celebrate this significant enrollment increase,” said Lake Land College President Josh Bullock. “Even with the challenges of the delayed FAFSA and a declining high school population, the College community came together to exceed our shared enrollment goal.”

In addition to the increase in new students, the numbers reflect strong retention throughout the student body. This, university administration members said, shows that students continue to view Lake Land College as “a smart investment in their futures and a pathway to increased earning potential.”

“We’re pleased to see so many students continue to choose Lake Land College as the starting point of their dream career,” Bullock added. “Our goal is to create accessible opportunities for students to change their lives through the power of education.”
